Why Do People Suffer?
Real Help and Real Answers for People Who Do

ABOUT SUFFERING

  • If God sends you suffering, He loves you most dearly!
  • Suffering is a spiritual gold mine that God gives to those He wants to draw closer to Himself.
  • Suffering teaches you deep, spiritual lessons that nothing or no one else could ever teach you.
  • Your suffering could help to end or lessen other people's suffering or make a real contribution to World Peace, or help your son or daughter with the trials that beset them etc. The possibilities for concretely helping others are endless for those who suffer.
  • Suffering is sad, painful and difficult, but CAN BE the polar opposite of a waste of time.
  • Suffering is the most powerful and effective of prayers. It is like the power of lightning as opposed to the power of a 50 watt bulb. It goes directly to the Heart of God, and effects great and wonderful changes for yourself, the world and others! It is indeed tremendous spiritual gold!
  • However, you must do it right, or it TRULY IS nothing but pain, misery, depression, anger towards God and a tragic waste of time. If you do not embrace the Lord's Will for you, it will also be many times more painful for you because suffering is too hard and you can't do it your self---you need to love God and embrace His Will so that you can ask for His help.

HOW TO SUFFER

  • Do not hate or be angry at God or the world for your suffering, but love Him and everyone with all your heart and ask the Lord for help to bear your sufferings well so that you and/or others may derive incredible benefits from it.
  • It is also perfectly fine to ask The Lord to relieve and/or end your suffering as soon as His Will for you will allow it! Do not become impatient or angry with the Lord if it doesn't happen soon or indeed, EVER!
  • Instead, strive to have faith that the Lord God is giving you His VERY BEST gifts, at ALL times. TRULY this is what God wants for you: Unending Joy, Happiness, and Love forever in the Kingdom of Heaven with Him. This is the earth. It is only the road to Heaven and it is hard going. The more you put up with in love and patience along the road on earth---the more He can give you at the end of the road in Heaven.
  • Wonderful relief can come from the Blessed Mother of God with a simple prayer to her, repeated as often as you like: "Mary, help me!" Remember, from the Bible that the Lord had no plans to turn water into wine until the Blessed Mother had suggested it. Indeed, He said, "Woman, what wouldst thou have me do? It is not yet my time." All she said was, "Do as he tells you" to the servants and Jesus did as she asked because He is the very best Son to His Mother.
  • Now, this is VERY important because this is where the power and benefit of the prayer comes in. Unite your sufferings to the sufferings of the Lord Jesus in His tortures and death on the Cross. If you do this, you will be imbuing your sufferings with the infinite merit of the Lord's sufferings, and will reap great benefits for your intention. Simply say on a daily basis something like this: "I unite my sufferings to the sufferings of the Lord Jesus in His Passion and death on the Cross." Then, mention your intention.
  • Remember to have faith that the Lord will answer your prayer according to His Will, but that the intention will be greatly benefitted somehow, even if unseen by you.
  • St. Monica prayed for something like eighteen years, giving her suffering and prayers that her son who was into all manner of bad living would be converted. It was a long time, but FAITH was the key. Not only did God help her son live right, but He made him a saint and a great Doctor of the Church. Her son was St. Augustine. He is still known for his spiritual wisdom by millions of Catholics around the world. So, remember FAITH is very important in suffering.
  • If you don't do all of this perfectly, keep trying. God will know you are trying and you will reap great benefits, anyway.
Dearest Lord, bless the most courageous of all souls, the people who suffer, and keep them closest to Your Heart. Amen.
